10:00 a.m. “Hello My Garden”
A dynamic “Show ‘n Tell”. A canvas bag full of tools & implements, is explored and ways to use them in the garden are explored. A lighthearted and informative session on everything from avoiding sunburn to how to apply fertilizer to caring for spring-flowering bulbs, critter control, cold-hardiness, and organic practices.

2:00 p.m. “O is for Ornamentation”
A how to discussion on easily, inexpensively, and graciously ornamenting our gardens. A poignant discussion, as the speaker shows the work boots her husband wore, and ruined, when he worked in the search and rescue team at the site of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Filled with flowers, they remain as an important signature in her garden to this day.

Bio
Colleen Plimpton, who grew up in Livingston County, New York, trained at the New York Botanical Garden and has tended her sloping Connecticut acre for 19 years. She’s appeared on numerous TV and radio programs including CBS, ABC, Good Morning America and PBS; she pens a prize-winning newspaper gardening column for Hearst Connecticut Media Group; coaches gardening; has taught at the New York Botanical Garden; lectures widely; and writes for publications such as GreenPrints, Connecticut Gardener, and Toastmaster. Her multi-honored garden memoir, Mentors in the Garden of Life was issued by Park East Press in May, 2010.Colleen looks upon each day as an opportunity to learn more about the wonderful world of nature.
